Why I Became A Caregiver

Psalms 118:24 says, “This is the day the Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad in it.” That is what I am going to do today.
I once heard it said indifference makes excuses but love finds a way. I loved my mother enough to find a way to take care of her.
God said in Ephesians 6:2-3 “Honour thy father and mother: which is the first commandment with promise, that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.”
I want to share with you anything that may help you be able to take care of your love one.
My mother fell and broke her left hip in 2003 and had several strokes. Because of the broken hip and strokes the doctor did not want to do surgery on her hip. This has left her little legs contracted and she is totally bedfast. I have to lift her, turn her, change her and bathe her.
In January this year 2009 she got pneumonia due to aspiration she is now on a feeding tube.
In 2003 when she was in the hospital with the broken hip the doctor told me to take her home and she might live two years. This is the normal time they say for someone in her shape it will be seven years July 2010.
I have been taking care of her by myself for nearly six years my daughter started helping me last year 2008. She comes in the morning at eight a. m. and leaves at two pm, Monday –Friday. I have her nights and weekends. My daughter’s help is such a blessing. I thank God for providing help for me.

Talk to you tomorrow,
Rebecca
